Teenager, 18, arrested on suspicion of murder in St Helens

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in St Helens.

Officers were called to a flat in Borough Road at about 21.40 BST on Friday.

The body of a 69-year-old man was found in the living room. He was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Merseyside Police said an 18-year-old man from the Newtown area of St Helens is being held in police custody on suspicion of murder.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be a head injury. The victim has been formally identified and officers have notified his family.

The flat was cordoned off and forensic examinations have been carried out. Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
