Tribute to St Helens motorcyclist who died in a crash in Bolton

Tributes have been paid to a motorcyclist who died after a crash with a lorry in Greater Manchester.

Michael Stockton, 59, collided with a HGV on the A666, St Peter's Way, Bolton at about 09:00 BST on Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at hospital. The pigeon fancier, from St Helens, Merseyside was described as a "loving husband".

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst driving without due care has been bailed.

Mr Stockton's family said: "Mick was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was born and brought up in the St Helens area.

"He was the only boy in a family of five children.

"Mick had a lifelong interest in pigeons and was a successful breeder and racer and was an active member of Burtonwood Homing Society.

"At the time of the accident Mick was on his way to work as a joiner."
