Fire crews have tackled a blaze at a Beatles-themed hotel in Liverpool.

Firefighters were called to a fire on the fifth floor of the Hard Days Night Hotel, North John Street, at about 13.20 GMT.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said four appliances and an aerial platform attended the fire at its height.

The fire is now under control and fire crews are still at the scene damping down. There are no reports of casualties.

The four-star hotel, which was evacuated, is in a Grade II-listed building dating back to 1884.

The hotel opened in 2008.
