Two arrested over Liverpool amateur footballer shooting

Two people have been arrested after a man was shot as he was about to play football in Liverpool.

The 27-year-old man was attacked by a gunman who jogged onto the pitch on Hillfoot Road, Woolton, just before 14:00 GMT on 12 January.

The victim was taken to hospital to be treated for leg injuries.

A 22-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and released on bail pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
