A man and boy have admitted assaulting a boy who was seriously injured when his bike was stolen in Merseyside.

Marcos Ringle, 16, suffered serious head injuries during the theft of his birthday present in Coronation Road, Crosby, on 15 July.

Martin McCaig, 22, from Walton, and the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted the offence at Liverpool Crown Court.

The pair were both remanded in custody for sentencing on 8 February 2013.

The bike Marcos was riding at the time of the attack was found a day later in Roxburgh Street, Kirkdale.
