A 19-year-old man has been injured in a shooting in Merseyside after the car he was travelling in was involved in a crash with another car, said police.
Emergency services were called to Hall Lane, Maghull at about 16:10 GMT. The victim suffered a head injury believed to be caused by a shotgun.
He was taken to hospital but his condition is not said to be life-threatening.
Police believe he was shot at by someone in the other car in the crash.
The shooting is believed to have followed an earlier incident which involved a Mercedes at around 15:00 GMT in Moorhey Road, Maghull.
Police said damage was caused to a dark coloured Mercedes in the incident.
Officers are keen to trace the Mercedes and want anyone who witnessed events in the Moorhey Road area or Hall Lane area to contact them.
Det Ch Supt Paul Richardson said this kind of "reckless" behaviour "cannot be tolerated".
