A tree fell onto a house in Merseyside and damaged two cars as winds gusted up to 40mph.

The 10 metre (32 ft) section of poplar tree crashed onto the house in Beauclair Drive, Childwall, just after 10.20 BST.

BT engineers attended as the tree had damaged phone lines, and Liverpool City Council representatives were there as the tree was blocking the path.

No-one is believed to have been injured.

A tree felling team is to check the condition of other nearby trees.
