Five held in raids after man shot in chest in Bootle

Five people have been arrested in raids carried out by police investigating a shooting on Merseyside.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the chest in South Park off Stanley Road at about 09:30 BST on Thursday.

He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police arrested the five men, aged between 21 and 47, in raids in the area on Friday. They are due to be questioned by police later.

One was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug at a house in Towcester Street.

The others were arrested for offences including possessing controlled drugs, intent to supply and fraud.
