A teenage girl whose body was found in undergrowth near a Merseyside observatory has been named by police.

A post-mortem examination found Hannah Windsor, 17, from Birkenhead died as a result of multiple injuries.

She was found by officers close to Bidston Hill Observatory at about 17:30 BST on Saturday, three days after she went missing.

An 18-year-old man from Moreton, Wirral, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police said Hannah was last seen on Wednesday by staff at the supported accommodation where she lived. She was reported missing on Friday.

The Grade II-listed observatory, built in 1866, was used by the Natural Environment Research Council until 2004.

Current research functions are now carried out on the University of Liverpool campus.
