Bake Off star Paul Hollywood's search for Merseyside baker
Wirral-born chef and star of BBC TV's Great British Bake Off Paul Hollywood has launched a competition to find the best amateur baker in Merseyside.
The chef from Wallasey will judge the competition as part of the annual Liverpool Food and Drink Festival.
He said: "There is so much talent in the region. We are looking for amateur bakers with real flair and passion."
Bakers can enter online and the top 12 will be invited to a live final.
Denise Harris, managing director of SK Events, who organise the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival, said: "Cupcakes, victoria sponges and scones are all back in fashion. People are going back to baking vintage cakes.
"We are looking for people who are really keen home bakers."
Entrants are asked to take a photograph of their best cake and enter the competition via the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival website.
Ms Harris added: "The finalists will be baking in front of a live audience so it is going to be really fun to watch and great to take part in."
The winner will receive an award and their recipe will be featured in the John Lewis cafe in Liverpool One.
