A former psychiatric nurse who claimed rheumatoid and osteo-arthritis prevented him from working, has been jailed after he was secretly filmed playing golf.

Peter Crowder, 51, from Maghull, fraudulently claimed more than £20,000 in benefits, Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard.

Crowder, who used to work at Ashworth Hospital in Merseyside, admitted making false claims and was jailed for six months.

His lawyer said the father-of-two recognised his "wrongdoing" and was remorseful.
