The mother of a 22-year-old woman stabbed to death on Merseyside has paid tribute to her "vibrant and happy" daughter.

Heather Louise Dyer was found stabbed in Chapel Street, St Helens, and died at the scene on Saturday.

Paul Lyon, 44, of Chapel Street, has been remanded in custody charged with murder.

Miss Dyer's mother said: "She loved to laugh and was a very generous person. Her heart was as big as any ocean."

She added: "My daughter was a vibrant and happy young lady with her whole life ahead of her. She was incredibly popular and was the life and soul of any gathering.

"She particularly loved it when the family was all together, she adored her family and we always came first.

"Heather has left a massive hole in our lives which will never be filled."

A 25-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the attack and is in a serious condition in hospital.
