Man found strangled in Liverpool house named by police

A 65-year-old man who was found strangled to death at a Liverpool house has been named as Brian Finnigan.

Police found Mr Finnigan at the house on Green Lane in Stoneycroft after they were called on Wednesday afternoon.

A post-mortem investigation carried out on Friday revealed he had been strangled.

Officers from Merseyside Police have been making house-to-house inquiries in the area and a murder investigation is under way.

Det Ch Insp Neil Bickley said: "The victim was found at his home on Wednesday, 1 September and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously towards the end of August near to the West Derby end of Green Lane to come forward.

"I would urge anyone who has any information, which can help us with our inquiries to contact detectives immediately in confidence."
