Man dies in Middleton brewery tanker fall

Greengate Brewery Police and the Health and Safety Executive are investigating the death

A man has died after falling into an empty container at a brewery, prompting a police investigation.

Emergency services were called to the JW Lees Greengate Brewery in Middleton, Greater Manchester, at about 15:45 BST.

The victim, thought to be in his 30s, was found inside a vehicle tanker and pronounced dead at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police has begun an investigation and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

JW Lees, in Grimshaw Lane, was formed in Middleton in 1828 and the Greengate Brewery is still family owned.
