Manchester hit and run leaves biker with serious leg injuries

A man is in hospital with serious leg injuries after he was knocked off his motorbike in Manchester by a driver who failed to stop, police said.

Police said a grey Peugeot collided with the motorcyclist as it turned into Lion Street at about 05:30 BST.

The motorcyclist suffered several breaks to his leg, a spokesman said.

Sgt Paul Higgins said: "This is a serious collision which has left the rider in a critical condition, undergoing surgery to save his leg."

Police said the car had damage to its front offside and has lost its offside wing mirror. The force appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
