Man 'tried to take girl, 3, from Salford garden'

Egerton Street Salford Police said the girl was in the garden of a block of flats in Egerton Street

A man tried to abduct a three-year-old girl from a garden in Salford, police said.

Greater Manchester Police said the girl was in the garden of a block of flats in Egerton Street, Patricroft, at 14:15 BST when the man lifted her over the fence and tried to walk off with her.

When challenged by the girl's mother he made off. The girl was not physically injured in any way, a spokesman said.

Police said the man wore a red and white cap, and red jacket and trainers.
