Girl, 15, hit by ill elderly driver in Bolton

A teenage girl was airlifted to hospital "in a serious condition" after she was hit by a car whose elderly driver had fallen ill, police said.

The man, aged in his 80s, was taken ill on Chapeltown Road, Bromley Cross in Bolton at about 10:50 BST. Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

The girl, who police said was believed to be 15, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with head injuries.

The man has also been taken to hospital for treatment.
