Stepping Hill deaths: Nurse Victorino Chua refused bail

A nurse accused of murdering three patients at Stockport's Stepping Hill Hospital in 2011 has been refused bail.

Victorino Chua, 48, of Churchill Street, Heaton Norris, is also charged with 31 other offences including causing GBH and attempted poisoning.

He is accused of murdering patients Tracey Arden, 44, Arnold Lancaster, 71, and Alfred Derek Weaver, 83.

His bail application was refused at Manchester Crown Court. His trial was provisionally scheduled for January.

The details of his application and the reasons for refusal could not be given for legal reasons.

Mr Chua has been accused of three counts of murder, one of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, 22 of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, seven of attempting to administer poison and one of causing poison to be administered with intent.
