Blackpool man hit by lorry on M61 motorway dies

A man died when he was hit by a lorry as he walked on the M61 motorway in Greater Manchester, police said.
Stephen Hayes, 68, of Blackpool, Lancashire, was struck on the northbound carriageway, between junctions 6 and 8 at Bolton.
Police said he had been at Rivington Services but it is not clear why he was on the carriageway, at about 01:30 BST.
The motorway was closed between junctions 6 and 8 of the M61 northbound overnight.
