Manchester guest house fire leaves one dead

A man has died in a fire at a guest house in Manchester.

The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was pulled from the block of flats in Audenshaw by firefighters but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Smoke was seen coming from the top floor of the three-storey property in Manchester Road at about 16:00 GMT.

Other residents safely escaped after a sprinkler system was activated. Police and the fire service are investigating the cause of the blaze.
