Anthony Delaney jailed for kicking cat to death

A drunken man has been jailed after he kicked to death a cat that had been run over by a car in Greater Manchester.

CCTV captured Anthony Delaney, 30, of Mossley, booting the black and white male cat twice in Queen's Road, Ashton-under-Lyne, in September.

Delaney, who pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering, sized the animal up before he crossed himself and then kicked it in the air like a football.

He was jailed for 18 weeks at Tameside Magistrates' Court.

Magistrates also banned Delaney from keeping animals for five years.

The cat's owner has never been traced.
