Bungling arsonist sets himself on fire in Rochdale

The man's left arm becomes engulfed in flames

An arsonist went up in flames as he tried to set fire to a recovery truck.

The man's left arm caught fire as he poured a flammable liquid on to the grille of the parked vehicle in Falinge, Rochdale, Greater Manchester and lit it.

As he ran up Ashworth Street, at about 05:00 GMT on Wednesday, he made desperate attempts to put out the flames before getting into a light-coloured Nissan Micra waiting nearby.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
