Girl, 12, dies in Shaw zebra crossing crash

A 12-year-old girl died when she was hit by a van on a zebra crossing in Greater Manchester.

The girl was hit in Milnrow Road, Shaw, at about 16:30 GMT on Tuesday. Another girl, aged 11, was also seriously hurt.

The injured girl is being treated in the Royal Oldham Hospital.

Local people said they had been warning the crossing is dangerous for several years. Seven people have been killed on that stretch of road in the past seven years.
