Leigh man shot in eye with airgun through a spy hole
A man has been shot in the eye with an airgun as he looked through the spy hole of his front door in Greater Manchester.
The 28-year-old man was injured when he went to the door of his home in Westbourne Avenue in Leigh when he heard his dog barking on 6 December.
An "air rifle" pellet "smashed" the glass and he felt a sharp pain in his left eye about 15:00 GMT, police said.
The pellet was removed but it is not yet known if he has been blinded.
Det Con Andy Partington said: "We believe the weapon used may be some kind of airgun.
"Whatever it was, the pellet has smashed the glass in the spy hole and lodged into his eye.
"At this moment in time, we do not know whether this is a targeted or random attack," he added.
