Driver reversed and killed Whitefield woman

A driver has been sentenced for killing a 69-year-old woman who died after he reversed his car over her.

Usman Hussain, 39, of Egerton Road South, Chorlton, Manchester, had admitted causing death by careless driving at Manchester Crown Court.

He was sentenced to a 12-month community order and banned for a year.

Surinder Kaur Singh was trapped under Hussain's Renault Laguna as he reversed onto Cheetham Hill Road near Knowsley Street, Manchester, on 31 October 2012.

The pensioner from Whitefield died later in hospital.
