TNT Post 'to create 1,000 jobs in Greater Manchester'
A postal company says it will create 1,000 jobs in Greater Manchester as it expands its delivery service.
The news of the expansion by TNT Post was welcomed by a government minister who praised its record with young people.
Inward investment agency MIDAS has helped identify 11 delivery units in Manchester, Trafford, Salford, Wigan and Bury.
The company already has a distribution and sorting centre in Warrington.
The jobs include back office and postal workers.
TNT Post chief executive Nick Wells said: "The postal industry is undergoing great change and I am proud that TNT Post is able to create new jobs for people who need them and also to provide career opportunities for those who want to progress in a growing company."
Employment Minister Nick Hoban said he welcomed the fact the company would be "working closely with Jobcentre Plus and the Work Programme to fill these vacancies".
