'Terrifying' abduction attempt for girl, 11, in Hyde

An 11-year-old girl suffered a "terrifying" and "audacious" abduction attempt in her back garden, Greater Manchester Police said.

The man tried to grab the girl after wandering into the garden of the house in School Lane, Hyde at 12:10 BST on Saturday, claiming to be lost.

He ran off when she screamed and kicked out at him. She ran into her house to tell her parents who called police.

Det Con Ian Parker said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim."

He added: "She managed to fight off this man, who was audacious enough to approach her while she was in the sanctity of her back garden."
