CCTV images of the moment a police officer was knocked over in a hit-and-run have been released by a force.

The officer was trying to stop the car in Bank Street, Bolton, in the early hours of Saturday when the driver hit him before speeding off.

The victim, who suffered minor injuries, was thrown into the air and hit the car's bonnet and roof before landing on the road, police said.

He was treated in hospital for knee injuries and is recovering at home.

Police are trying to find the people in the car, a blue Toyota believed to have been fitted with false number plates.
