'Good Samaritans' prevented Greater Manchester robbery

Two 'good Samaritans' have been praised for intervening to stop two men attacking a woman for her handbag in Greater Manchester.

The pair were driving along Warwick Road in Chorlton when they saw the woman struggling with two men at 21:30 BST on Friday.

They leapt out of their van and chased the men off, police said, preventing a possible attack and robbery.

Det Sgt Rick Thompson said they risked their own safety to help the victim.

He added: "The actions of these men are to be commended."

Police are urging the two good Samaritans and any other witnesses to come forward to help with inquiries.
