The arrested man is also in a stable condition after being hit by the bus in Henshaw Street.

Another man and woman initially held on suspicion of attempted murder were "de-arrested" on Tuesday.

Greater Manchester Police said that means no record was left on their files.

Police were called to Henshaw Street in Oldham shortly after 19:00 BST on Monday following reports a man was in the road. He had been hit by a bus.

Officers were then called a short time later to Royal Oldham Hospital, following reports a woman had been admitted with stab wounds.

It is thought the two incidents are linked.
