Robbery charge over home attack on Bolton man, 87

A man has been charged with robbery over a break-in at an 87-year-old Bolton man's home, which saw him suffer a stroke after being attacked.

The elderly victim was assaulted at his home on Longfield Road in Daubhill at around 00:40 BST on Saturday.

He remains in hospital receiving treatment for a bleed on the brain.

Daniel Crompton, 23, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

He is due before the town's Crown Court on 23 August.
