Cornflakes start fire at Kellogg's factory in Trafford Park

Kellogg's Trafford Park A batch of the breakfast favourite became trapped in an oven, causing the fire

Cornflakes became jammed in an oven causing the fifth floor of a Kellogg's factory to catch fire.

Seventy night shift workers were evacuated from the building in Trafford Park near Manchester at 04:50 BST.

The cornflakes wedged in a conveyor belt in the oven and caught alight, station manager Paul Smitham said.

Fire crews needed to wear breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze and it was two hours before staff could return to work.
