A man has been sectioned and a woman has appeared in court in connection with threats made at gunpoint to nurses at Salford Royal Hospital.

Police said an armed man made threats to two staff on Friday and a firearm was recovered. No-one was injured.

A 40-year-old man was sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Following a search of two properties, a woman, also aged 40, appeared before magistrates on Monday charged with possession of firearms and ammunition.

She is accused of possession of three revolvers, a pistol and ammunition.
