Pedestrian death on M62 closes motorway

A pedestrian has been hit and killed on the M62 in Greater Manchester.

Police are at the scene on the westbound carriageway between junctions 19 and 20.

The man is thought to have been struck at about 09:00 BST, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Highways Agency said investigations were likely to take "several hours" with long delays expected for motorists who have been advised to avoid the area.
