Three rescued from 'cherry picker' in Wigan

Three workmen were rescued from a "cherry picker" by firefighters in Greater Manchester after the man controlling it fell ill.

Fire crews were called to a Department for Work and Pensions building in Bryn, Wigan, at about 12:15.

Firefighters used a ladder to rescue two of the men and the driver of the machine was winched down and taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary.

His condition is not thought to be serious, fire officials said.
