Arrest after man stabbed in Wigan in car keys demand

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was repeatedly stabbed outside a house by two men demanding the keys to his Mercedes car, police said.

The 59-year-old victim was attacked as he walked out of a relative's house in Worcester Avenue in Hindley, Wigan, at 09:55 GMT on Sunday.

Two men ran off along Worcester Avenue without the car keys.

The victim is in hospital with serious injuries to his arms and his neck.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Det Insp Jon Keeley said the victim was stabbed 12 times.

He added: "There is no history between the offenders and the victim - it appears to simply be a case of an extremely violent robbery by criminals desperate for the vehicle."
