Salford stolen car crash victims identified as brothers

Crash scene The Audi smashed into a number of parked vehicles

Two brothers who were killed in a stolen Audi when it crashed into eight parked cars and caught fire in Salford have been named by police.

Robert Crooks, 33, and Scott Best, 27, died following the crash on Leigh Road, Boothstown on Thursday evening.

The Audi they were in was stolen in a raid on a property in Farnworth 10 minutes before the crash, police said.

A 28-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle, remains in custody.

Greater Manchester Police said despite the pair having different surnames, the two victims were brothers.
