Matt Leigh Tyler jailed for Oldham shopping centre sex attack on boy
A man who subjected a boy to what police described as a "degrading sexual attack" in the toilets of a shopping centre has been jailed.
The 13-year-old boy was assaulted at Spindles Shopping Centre in Oldham, Greater Manchester, on 17 September.
Matt Leigh Tyler, 31, from Chadderton, denied two counts of rape but admitted sexual activity with a child under 15, a plea which the court accepted.
He was jailed for three and a half years at Manchester Crown Court.'Danger to children'
Tyler was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and subjected to an order which bans him from working with children.
Speaking after the hearing, Det Insp Jamie Daniels, of the Public Protection Division of Greater Manchester Police, said: "The victim was at a very vulnerable time of his life when this happened.
"Tyler took full advantage of this for his own gratification and subjected the boy to degrading sexual attack.
"The boy is now trying to move on from what happened and I hope today's result helps him come to terms with the incident.
"I would like to pay tribute to staff and I am thankful that the court has recognised Tyler's danger to vulnerable children and elected to protect the public from him in the manner it has."
