Stepping Hill contamination: Nurse arrested over murders bailed
A nurse arrested over the deliberate contamination of products and tampering of medical records at Stepping Hill Hospital has had his bail extended.
Victorino Chua was arrested on suspicion of murdering three patients and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to 19 others at the hospital.
Greater Manchester Police said the 46-year-old, arrested last January, is now due to answer bail again on 9 July.
Twenty-two people were poisoned at the hospital in June and July 2011.
Staff at the hospital in Stockport called police after they discovered a batch of saline drips had been tampered with.
Eight of those poisoned later died, five of them from natural causes.
Mr Chua was arrested on suspicion of the murders of Tracey Arden, 44, Arnold Lancaster, 71, and Derek Weaver, 83.
A police spokesman said: "Greater Manchester Police has and continues to work closely with the CPS to ensure this complex investigation is dealt with thoroughly and as quickly as possible."
