Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Greater Manchester have arrested a 26-year-old man.

The man from Bracknell, Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning, said a police spokesman.

The 18-year-old victim, Kieran Crump Raiswell, died from stab wounds to his chest after he was attacked in daylight in Whalley Range on Wednesday.

Police said there appeared to be "no obvious motive" for the stabbing.

Mr Crump Raiswell, who was about to start a degree at Sheffield University, was attacked near a bus stop on Upper Chorlton Road.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Marsh, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "We have made an arrest but the investigation is continuing.

"I still want to hear from you if you saw Kieran walking along Upper Chorlton Road on Wednesday afternoon or if you saw anyone acting suspiciously."

The youngster "had his whole life ahead of him", his family said.
