Man, 83, dies after being knocked down in Salford

An 83-year-old man has died after being knocked down by a car while crossing a road in Salford.
The man was crossing Leicester Road at the junction with Granville Avenue in Broughton when he was hit by a Citroen C1.
He suffered severe head injuries and died later in hospital.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
PC Neil Pennington said it was "a tragic incident".
