Elderly man struck by car in Oldham dies
An elderly man has died after he was struck by a car on a rural lane in Greater Manchester.
Police said he was walking with friends on Platting Road in Lydgate, Oldham, when he was hit by a Nissan X Trail at about 16:40 GMT.
He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he later died.
No-one else was injured in the collision, including the female driver of the car. Police are appealing for information.
Platting Road has been closed while an investigation is carried out.
