A man has been arrested on the suspicion murdering an 84-year-old man from Rochdale, Greater Manchester.

The body of Vincent Kershaw was found by police at a house on Willows Lane, Milnrow on 14 October after concerns were raised about his welfare.

Mr Kershaw was last seen by a taxi driver who took him home at about 13:00 GMT on 4 October after collecting his pension and grocery shopping.

A 56-year-old man is being questioned by police in connection with his death.

Mr Kershaw, who lived alone, collected his pension at Milnrow Post Office, in Dale Street and later bought groceries nearby at Tesco Express.

A home office post-mortem examination concluded that he died from head injuries.

Police believe he was probably killed shortly after he returned home.

Police said Mr Kershaw was known to carry large quantities of cash and his wallet was missing.
