Greater Manchester roads could flood after downpours
The Environment Agency is warning some roads in part of Greater Manchester could flood after river levels rose due to persistent downpours.
The authority has issued a flood alert for the Middle River Mersey near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston.
A spokesman said flooding to low lying land and roads was expected during Sunday and into Monday.
No properties are thought to be in danger.
River tributaries Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton Brooks and surrounding waters are also at risk, along with areas in Stretford, Gatley, Cheadle Hulme and Cheadle.
Access to Ford Lane in Didsbury could be affected, experts said, adding: "We will continue to monitor the situation."
There are more than 200 other flood warnings in place across England.
