Hand grenade discovered in Cheshire garden

A live hand grenade has been discovered by builders working on a property in north Cheshire.

Cheshire Police said the emergency services were alerted around 10:43 GMT by builders in Forest Road, Cuddington near Northwich.

Roads were closed and neighbouring houses were evacuated until an army bomb disposal team arrived.

Cheshire Police said the hand grenade was exploded in a field shortly before 13:00 GMT.
