Murder arrest over Greater Manchester 'stairs death'

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police responding to reports a woman had fallen down stairs found a body in Greater Manchester.

Police were called to an address on Gorton Street, Farnworth, at 05:00 GMT.

They found the body of a woman, who is thought to be in her 60s. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

The man arrested remains in police custody. Officers said inquiries into how the woman died were continuing.
