Three men arrested over Tameside shooting

A man is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot in Greater Manchester, police said.

The man is being treated with wounds to his hands after shots were fired at about 19:50 BST on Circular Road in Denton, Tameside on Saturday.

Police said it was a targeted attack and patrols were being stepped up in the area to reassure residents.

Three men - aged 18, 21 and 61 - have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police recovered two blank cartridges at the scene.

Supt Simon Retford said: "People in Tameside are bound to be concerned.

"I would like to try and reassure them that we do not believe this is a random attack.

"We have a team of detectives working hard to establish the full circumstances and I would encourage anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to us."
