Man critical after Ramsbottom assault

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked in Greater Manchester, police said.

Officers found the 32-year-old man unconscious at the junction of Bridge Street and Bolton Street in Ramsbottom at about 23:00 BST on Friday.

He was punched to the floor and then punched and kicked in the head, police said.

Two men, aged 21 and 23, have been arrested in connection with the attack. Police are looking for a third man.

The men in custody were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Officers are also trying to trace another man understood to have boarded a 472 bus towards Bury and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

The victim is being treated for a bleed to the brain and remains in intensive care at Hope Hospital in Salford.
