Sarah Storey, who won ParalympicGB's first gold medal at London 2012, has become the first Paralympian to be honoured by Royal Mail.

The cyclist, who took gold in the Women's C5 Pursuit on Thursday, has had her achievement printed on a stamp.

She will also have a postbox painted gold near her home in Disley, Cheshire.

The postboxes and stamps were used by Royal Mail to honour gold medal winners at the Olympics earlier in August.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said the company was "delighted" to be issuing the special gold medal stamps to recognise Britain's Paralympic champions at the London Games.

He added that this was the "first time ever that a set of stamps has been issued to celebrate Paralympic gold medallists from the host country".

Storey's gold medal was the eighth of her Paralympic career, which has seen her be victorious in both cycling and swimming events at previous Paralympic Games.
