Three hurt in Manchester city centre hit-and-run

Police are investigating whether three men injured by a hit-and-run driver in Manchester were targeted deliberately.

One of the men, 28, is said to be in a critical condition after being struck by a car on John Dalton Street in the city centre at about 02:30 BST.

Officers are investigating reports of an altercation between the group of men and another group on the street before the incident.

Supt Stuart Ellison said police "cannot rule out it was a deliberate act".

The man in a critical condition suffered head injuries, police said.

A 30-year-old man has a broken leg while a 32-year-old man received superficial injuries.

Mr Ellison, from Greater Manchester Police, said: "From what we know, a silver Corsa has driven at speed, on the wrong side of the road, and collided with the three men."

He said officers were keen for witnesses to get in touch.
